BMW already has a noteworthy lineup of electric cars, and now it’s centering its focus on battery-powered two-wheelers. The German marque has just disclosed two new electric bicycles that will permit those within the saddle to cruise city streets sans emissions. The imaginative concepts come in no time after BMW uncovered its CE-04 scooter and signals the company’s unflinching commitment to the electric revolution. The first design is a compact, three-wheel bike called the Dynamic Cargo. As its moniker suggests, it’s built to carry shopping, luggage, children and, well, cargo on a platform at the back. This could be fitted with a range of modular attachments depending on what you need to transport.
“Our goal was to develop a concept that retains the agility and driving feel of a normal bicycle while adding innovative, safe transport options,” Jochen Karg, head of vehicle concepts in BMW’s new technologies and China division, said in a statement.
To attain that rideability, the trike sports a large singular front wheel also a combine of rotating rear axles that permit it to corner effectively. The electrified drivetrain, in the mean time, automatically enacts with a thrust of the pedal to drive the two rear wheels that are fitted with a rigid axle. This means your valuable cargo will remain nice and steady no matter how difficult you ride it.
The Clever Commute, on the other hand, was built for working experts who wish to form the day by day commute a little more eco-friendly. The zero-emissions e-scooter folds up perfectly and can indeed be stored within the boot of a Mini, according to BMW. It might also sit comfortably beneath your arm on open transport or underneath your work desk. Of course, just because it’s small, it doesn’t mean it’s not compelling. The scooter contains a hub-mounted motor within the front wheel which BMW says will help you get up ramps with negligible exertion.
The automaker hasn’t given subtle elements with respect to the power or range for either EV, though it claims the electric mileage might be scaled with respect to the respective application. BMW also shared that each bike’s battery pack might be removed and charged at home. Though BMW will not manufacturer either design at this stage, the marque said it’s already in dialogs with potential licensees to urge these new two-wheelers on the streets. Stay tuned.
